Indian star Irrfan Khan (“Jurassic World”, “Life of Pi”) will play the lead role in Bangladeshi director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Bengali and English language “No Bed of Roses” (“Doob” in Bengali).
Irrfan Khan-starrer Bangladeshi bilingual film ‘Doob — No Bed Of Roses’ had its world premiere at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival to a positive reception. The director said making the film wasn’t a cakewalk for him.
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Doob (No Bed of Roses) has won the Kommersant Jury Prize at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival, where the film also competed in the main competition.
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s “Doob” (“No Bed of Roses”) may be still awaiting censor clearance at home, but the film has already gotten some international recognition. The Irrfan Khan-starrer India-Bangladesh coproduction won the Kommersant Jury Prize at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival, where it is also in the main competition.
Farooki informed The Daily Star yesterday that the Kommersant Jury Award is an official award recognized by the festival, handed out by an independent film jury. All the films in the main competition are also in contention for the award. The award is given by Kommersant, a leading Russian daily and the jury is headed by eminent Russian film critic and film historian Andrei Plakhov.
